Before scheduling shifts for your employees, it’s important to configure your Shift Settings correctly to match your company’s workflow. The settings you choose will affect how shifts are displayed, how employee access is managed, and how payroll is calculated.
This article will guide you through:
How to access and configure Shift Settings
Detailed explanations of each setting
Real-world scenarios to help you choose the right options
Note: Make sure you have Admin access to update Shift Settings.
Accessing Shift Settings
From the Side Navigation Menu, click on Settings
Under the Shift section, click Settings
You’ll now see a list of configurable Shift Settings:
1. Shift to Attendance Relationship
This setting determines how shifts are linked to attendance records.
Options:
Multiple Shifts Tagged to One Attendance (Default)
Best for operations where employees may work split shifts or multiple shifts per day
💡Scenario:
If an employee works two separate consecutive shifts in a single day (e.g., morning and afternoon), both shifts will be linked to the same attendance log, provided the employee clocks in and out only once on the same day.
2. Shift View
This controls which day is shown as the first day of the week in the Shift Schedule.
Current Default:
Monday
Scenario:
If your company schedules the work week from Monday to Sunday, the current default setting already aligns with this, so no changes are needed.
3. Employee View Permission
This setting determines which shifts employees are allowed to view in their account based on their role and groupings (click to see dropdown list) in the company.
Available Grouping Options:
Self: Employees only see their own shifts
Outlet: Employees can view shifts of all staff assigned to the same outlet
Department: Employees can view shifts of team members in the same department
Position: Employees can view shifts of others in the same position
Company: All employees can view all shifts across the same company
All: Everyone can view all shifts across all companies
Scenario:
To enable employees to only view their own shifts without visibility into other team members’ schedules, choose Self.
💡Tip:
Use this setting to balance transparency with privacy and limit distractions from unrelated schedules.
4. Payout Option
This setting determines which entity is responsible for paying the employee based on their shift.
Options:
Primary Employee (Default): The main company listed in the system pays the salary
Shift Outlet: The outlet where the employee works during that shift is responsible for the salary payment
Final Notes:
These settings apply in your selected company account. It will not be applied to your other company accounts automatically (if you manage more than one)
Changes take effect immediately, so review each option carefully
Revisit your Shift Settings periodically to adjust for business changes or new policies
